TYPES OF HEARING INSTRUMENTS
There is not a single hearing instrument that is suitable for all types of Hearing loss.
The type you need depends on your individual hearing loss and the nature of that loss,
and other factors such as Personal Needs and Preferences, Lifestyle etc.


THE INVISIBLE IN THE CANAL (IIC)

- Type of hearing aid that fits deeply within the ear canal really close to the eardrum and it is virtually invisible.

THE COMPLETELY IN THE CANAL (CIC)

- Type of hearing aid that fits deeply within the ear canal and is barely visible. Though small, this instrument is very powerful and fits a variety of hearing loss needs.

THE IN THE EAR (ITE)

- These models fit within the outer ear, extending into the ear canal. These models accommodate a wide variety of hearing losses.
1. Micro Canal.
2. Canal.
3. Half Shell.
4. Full Shell.

THE BEHIND THE EAR (BTE) AND (RIC)

THEY COMPRISE TWO TYPES.
- The classic BTE hearing aid is housed in a curved case that fits securely behind the ear. It is inserted into the mold by a short plastic tube, the sound from the hearing aid is delivered through the mold into the ear canal.
- The receiver in the canal ( RIC ) are smaller than classic BTE and usually do not need mold, amplified sounds are delivered into the ear canal.
